| "Trends and fads in the art world will come and go through the years, but truly valid works of art will never lose their universal appeal." - Michael Sloan (Tennessee's first Artist-in-Residence)
"It is my belief that every artist creates his best work when inspired by the things that stir and provoke the imagination. For me, it has been the desire to share the inner connectedness of the human spirit to this land we call home. The rustic rural homelands that link us all in various ways to the ancestry of America. The magic wilderness areas of our country one may find in places such as the Great Smoky Mountains; a seemingly eternal nature that has the power to bind us to the very essence of the spirit of creation. This inner connectedness; this kindred spirit with nature, often transcends the written word. But visually, everyone feels it at particular moments throughout their life. I hope the imagery of my work will connect with you in that kindredness."
